to paris and back

after spending four days in london, we headed off to paris and spent a crazy three days running around that city. crazy is the only way i can describe our time there sprinkled with little bits of magic that only that city could offer. in three days we crammed in:

  • notre dame
  • shakespeare & company bookstore (probably one of the most magical places of all)
  • the pompidou
  • the gardens (can't remember the name)
  • the louvre
  • sitting on the grass watching the sunset behind the eiffel tower (another magical moment)
  • the cemetery (saw jim morrison's grave and oscar wilde's)
  • musee d'orsay
  • champs elysee
  • the opera house (no luck finding the phantom)
  • sacre-coeur (a basilica)
  • stuffing my face with food. no shame.
i know there is more that i am leaving out, but you get the picture. i am happy to be back in london where things feel more like home.

Final

I wanted my final to look and feel like a fashion look book because I am really inspired by fashion photography.

Assignment #4

Motion:

slow shutter speed...

for slow shutter speed i experimented a lot with things that were moving. i shot around downtown salt lake and really enjoyed shooting the moving trax car. then i randomly came across these cool fountains and when i shot them they ended up looking like bubbles.

fast shutter speed...

for the fast shutter speeds i made ripples in the reflection pool at temple square and they looked really sharp when shot with a fast shutter speed. for my second photo i shot the park city trolley. this moving object looked a lot different with a fast shutter speed then the trax did at a slow shutter speed.

Depth of Field:

1. wide depth of field...

2. narrow depth of field...

3. near object in focus...

4. far object in focus...

5. sharp photo...

Assignment #3

High Key:

Low Key:

some images my camera told me were correct:

Doing this assignment I learned that I really need to get a tripod, especially for the low key photos. I also learned that the photos my camera said had the correct exposure were not the best ones that I used...so bracketing is actually a good thing!
